CUTEST shrug
This cute shrug is easy to knit and fast, and it’s bottom up so you can try it on as you work, if you use a circular needle. The sleeves are formed with cast on stitches, short rows, and decreasing. For the bust, you can work more of the dramatic increases for a larger bust, or fewer increases for younger girls.
This is so customizable that you pick length, sleeve size, and bust shaping. But the pattern covers details such as short row shaping, decreasing and increasing, and more.
No gauge swatch necessary, no knitting in the round, no purling required, and you only need to know kfb and K2tog. Super simple!
For Sizes Girls XS through Ladies S, one skein (185 yds) of Homespun required. For Ladies M through XXL, two or more skeins of Homespun.
I recommend a circular 6.5mm (US 10 1/2) needle because as you proceed, you will hopefully be able to try it on. Also, circular needles while working flat are typically larger than straights, so stitches won’t cramp on the needles like they will on straights. Don’t worry though, we won’t be working circularly - you can knit flat on circular needles.
This is a #nopurls pattern. Check out all of the no purling projects on Ravelry with this link: http://rav.to/9qdrq
Please note: This is a recipe-style pattern, so you will need to take a few measurements. Size Ladies S (the same as a Girls XL) is given in pattern, but all other sizes are given in a description of how to create a CUTE shrug for yourself or a friend. Super customizable - sleeve size + length, button, no button, or maybe an I-cord tie, also, the shug length is entirely your choice, maybe you’ll want to add length to create a cardigan, or add a bit more increasing to the bust section. Phew! Lotsa options!
