Cwtch is a Welsh word for a great big hug. When I was designing this blanket I wanted it to be big enough to wrap around, giving that feeling of being warm and loved. The blanket is cozy and full of colour.

The pattern consists of 12 different granny square designs (all made in rounds), with each square being made in two different colourways. It is full of colour and texture.

I used Hobbii crafting acrylic with a 4.5mm hook. Techniques include bobble, puff and front post stitches. Due to the colour changes this pattern is suitable for intermediate crocheters.

Each square measures 17cm x 17cm and the overall blanket is 114cm x 161cm. Smaller/ larger versions can be made by decreasing/ increasing the number of squares made.

The squares are then joined using a flat braid technique and finished with a crab stitch border.

This pattern is written in English and uses US crochet terms.
