Inspired by Greek sea mythology, Cymopoleia is named after the daughter of Poseidon, the goddess of violent storms. The three sections of the shawl are reminiscent of the sea; the center starts with a spiraling fishing net, then the lace changes to rippling water, finishing with the waves crashing on the shore as detailed in the outer edging.

The Cymopoleia Shawl is a large circular shawl knit in the round from the center out to create a flat circle; once the main body of the shawl is complete a knitted on border is added.

This pattern is fully charted.
