Fans of Downton Abbey’s amazing fashions, rejoice!
Just in time for holiday gift-knitting, A Head For Trouble: What To Knit While Catching Crooks, Chasing Clues, and Solving Murders (20 Hats & Adornments Inspired by Lady Detectives of the Roaring Twenties) was released in October, 2014. This captivating collection blends vintage glamor with wonderfully wearable contemporary style, and is available in both electronic and paperback format both here and on my website: www.julieturjoman.com
Knit something special for your inner flapper!
A quintessential example of the era’s fashion contradictions, Roaring Twenties collars (today’s knitters know them as cowls) often fit with snug propriety around the wearer’s neck, only to feature a luxurious ruffle or froth of lace that spilled out with seductive extravagance from its closure. This example, in two complementary yarn weights, befits today’s knitter as beautifully as it would the most style-conscious 1920s fashionista.
