Dakota Shawl
The second installment of the Redux series of patterns, Dakota Shawl was originally published in 1999 and is a close cousin of the Dakota on the Side Jacket from Cheryl’s third book, Knitted Jackets: 20 designs from Classic to Contemporary. Using a hand - dyed and a solid yarn in a slip stitch pattern and knit from long edge to long edge, the Dakota Shawl is light weight with a flattering drape. The shawl has garter stitch borders on all sides. The borders on the short ends are worked after the shawl is knitted and have facings.
The optional tassels on the corners add some lovely “swing” to the shawl. Or try it with some beads on each corner.
One of Cheryl’s most popular patterns, the Dakota Shawl Redux has been updated, revised, and is now available as a pdf.
