Dancing Diamonds Capelet
When I wear a shawl, it seems like my neck isn’t as warm as it could be. This capelet solves that issue with a soft turtle neck that isn’t too tight.
The capelet is knit from the top down with both charted and written instructions provided. I’ve done this pattern in a solid color, a slightly variegated colorway and some handspun that gave it a striped effect.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Size: 19” high x 36” on lower edge (72” circumference), depending on severity of blocking and yarn choice.
Yarn: Road to China Light by The Fibre Co; 65% Alpaca / 15% Silk / 10% Camel / 10% Cashmere; 159 Yards, 50 g, Color: Hematite, 3 skeins (Any sport weight yarn may be used or, for a slightly lighter version, use a fingering-weight yarn)
Needle: US size 8 (5.00mm) 16-18” circular LACE needles for neck section
US size 8 (5.00mm) 24” or longer circular LACE needles for remainder of pattern
Gauge:20 sts & 26 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on size 8 needles (unblocked). Gauge is not incredibly important for this pattern, but you may run out of yarn if your gauge is significantly different.
Notions: 4 stitch markers, one in a different style or color to mark beginning of round, Tapestry needle, Blocking wires and T-pins (optional but recommended)
