Who can resist picking a dandelion once it has turned into a ball of fluff? There´s something so fun and innocent in blowing it´s delicate seeds into the air while making a wish.

Dandelions are well known for being able to grow in difficult conditions, even happily appearing amongst the cracks of the pavement. It is believed that this flower symbolizes the ability to rise above life´s challenges. And so I wanted to create some socks inspired by those delicate looking but strong flowers so the wearer could make wishes every time they pulled on their warm socks, even during flowerless cold winters.

This sock is knit from the top down and has a colourwork pattern throughout the leg representing the dandelion once it has turned into a ball of seeds. After an eye of partridge heel flap and gusset, the foot is knit with a ´dandelion´ stitch pattern, representing the blown away dandelion seeds which are knit to look like they are parachuting down the foot of the sock.
