Hello my good Sir’s & Madam’s!
You will be most pleased to know that this project is worked entirely in the round so there is no seaming. It’s really quite stupendous! The arms are knit first and attached to the body as you go - easy, peasy. Why, how remarkable! Smashing job! A feat of modern science! well, maybe not all of that, but not having to sew on all those arms is still pretty great news, right?!
Note - this pattern was created for the Gnome Acres/Tangerine Designs Steampunk Club and is included with the extra’s for the 2nd shipment which is Casey’s/Zephead’s month. Mustache buttons are available for purchase HERE.
Gauge:
You need a firm fabric when knitting stuffies so the polyfil won’t poke through. I suggest going down 1 to 2 sizes from the smallest needle size recommended on the yarn label. I typically use a US 5 or 6 for Worsted weight, US 3 or 4 for a DK and US 0 or 1 for fingering. Everyone knits differently, so as long as you are getting a dense fabric, you are good to go.
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn - Approx. 110 yds of a MC and 20 yds of a CC
- US 5 or 6 needles - this project can be worked on DPN’s, 2 Circs or a 40” circular for Magic Loop (my preferred method) Just make sure to distribute your stitches evenly for working in the round.
- a 3rd needle for closing & attaching the arms
- stitch holder, extra dpn’s or scrap yarn for holding ‘live’ stitches
- tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- fabric glue or craft glue
- stitch marker(s) for marking the beginning of the round and/or front of your work
- safety eyes (my samples all used 15mm from Etsy seller 6060) OR craft eyes OR buttons
- Yarn scraps for monocle & hat band
- polyfil
- mustache button - from the awesome Casey/zephead and available at Tangerine Designs
I hope you enjoy Dandy Sir! happy knitting & creating,
~Susan aka NoKnitSherlock ♥
