Danish Aunt Anna Sweater
Traditional Aunt Anna blouses have been knit in all sizes for generations in Denmark. The sweaters were knit in unbleached cotton yarn, but this little sweater is knit in buttery-soft Koigu Premium Merino wool.
The original sweaters were knit horizontally in garter stitch with an applied lace edging. Baby sweaters were worn with the buttons up the back. For this version, pretty ribbon bows close the front.
The sweater is worked cuff-to-cuff in garter stitch. When the sweater is finished, a lace edging is applied all the way around the body and cuffs. Ribbon is used in place of buttons to keep the front closed.
Slip first stitch of every row purlwise with yarn in front.
