The Darling Dots Beanie is a playful, stylish knit that is suitable for any occasion. Knitting in fingering weight wool gives you a beautifully warm beanie without the heaviness that can sometimes happen with thicker yarns.

Featuring a 2x2 ribbed turned-over cuff, lots of Darling Dots and finished with a pompom. The stranding across the back created by the colour work adds extra thickness to the fabric, keeping the biting winter winds out. There’s a little bit of slouch in the beanie for a snugglier accessory.

This pattern comes with two versions, one worked flat and the other in-the-round, so that you can knit however you love best. The round version is showcased using the magic loop method, but you can just as easily use double pointed needles if you prefer, without having to change anything.
The instructions are written in an easy to understand way, with helpful tips sprinkled throughout. The dot design is worked from a chart.

What you’ll need:
1 x 50g ball WOOLganic Merino 4ply in colour Wattle (or other colour of your choice)
1 x 50g ball WOOLganic Merino 4ply in colour Grapefruit Moon
You’ll use approx. 32g/133 metres of the main colour and 21g/87 metres of the contrast colour.

It’s worth noting that the yarn I have chosen for this project is a beautiful lightweight wool (which makes it delightful to wear as it’s warm but not heavy). This also means that if you’re substituting yarn, pay attention to the meterage/yardage (listed above) rather than the grams as this wool has excellent meterage.

To work flat:
1 pair of 3mm knitting needles
1 pair of 3.25mm knitting needles

To work in-the-round:
1 x 3mm circular needle with 80” cable
1 x 3.25mm circular needle with 80” cable
