Taking a simple horizontal colour block theme, Rita Taylor has enlivened this sweater by placing contrast rows of brightly coloured dashes. This sweater can be made with eather a shawl collar or a simple neckline.

Blacker Swan (DK; 100% Falkland Islands Merino Wool; 110 m / 119 yds per 50g)
A: Stone (grey); 6 (6, 6, 7, 7) balls
B: Sand (fawn); 4 (4, 4, 5, 5) balls
C: Dusty Miller (white); 6 (7, 7, 8, 9) balls for Shawl Collar Sweater;
6 (6, 6, 7, 8) balls for Round Neck Sweater
D: Navy (blue); 1 ball
E: Sheeps Sorrel (oxblood); 1 ball
Gauge:
21 sts x 28 rows = 10 cm / 4” with in stocking stitch using the larger needles
Always use a needle size which results in the correct gauge of blocking.
Needles:
3.25 mm (US 3) - straight knitting needles
4 mm (US 6) - straight knitting needles

Notes:
The garment is knitted flat and then seamed. Once seamed, stitches at the neck are picked up and a collar is knitted in the round.
