“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” - Leonardo DaVinci

I designed this shawlette specifically with handspun yarn in mind - it is written in such a way that it uses up the skein of yarn without forcing the yarn to conform to standard yardage requirements. DaVinci would also work well for a single skein of commercial or hand dyed yarn in any weight, as the pattern is easy to adjust for any yardage or size of yarn.

In order to knit this pattern you will need a way to measure half of your yarn - a scale is the easiest way to do this, but you could also count yardage used or find another method of measuring the halfway point of your skein.

Use any needle that creates a nice, drapey fabric with the yarn you have.

This pattern requires a basic understanding of lace stitches - yo and k2tog specifically. The pattern includes written instructions and a chart for the lace portion, and comes in two sizes; one that is longer and shallower and another that is deeper and shorter.

Each sample shown in the pattern was made using a single 4-oz skein of handspun, 2ply yarn: CCSmile Handspun 2ply.
