This design is part of my book New Ways with Crochet.

The book explores fresh stitch ideas and ways to adapt and combine them for projects of all kinds, from garments to blankets.

It is divided into five themed chapters:

  • Small stitches and gentle textures
  • New ways to play with double crochet
  • A fresh look at working into the back loop
  • An innovative technique for textured crochet
  • And my signature crochet cables

Each chapter ends with a shawl that shows the stitches in use. The Daydream Shawl comes from Chapter 1: small stitches and gentle textures.

CONSTRUCTION

The Daydream is an asymmetrical shawl worked in two stages. It begins with a wide lace insert, starting at one side corner and working down to the bottom corner.

Once the insert is complete, the body of the shawl is worked along one edge of the lace, gradually decreasing with each row until it reaches the opposite side corner.
