All weights are approximate and will vary depending on the brand of yarn you choose and how tightly you crochet.

I used Stylecraft special double knit for this pattern
You can of course use any brand of double-knit/light/3 weight.
This pattern would also work using fine/ sports/2 fine yarn. or aran/worsted/4 weight yarn but would be bigger.

Dark grey- 80g
Light grey- 60g
Parachment- 40g
Black - 20g
White- small amount for outline of the eye
Safety eyes 14mm
Toy stuffing.
Fake eye lashes (optional)

Hooks required
2.50 mm

Size
By using this yarn and hook sizes your finished Donkey will be roughly
38cm/16inches in height
30 cm/12 inches in length
15cm/6 inches in width

This pattern uses US terms,
Ch = chain stitch
Sc = single crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
Dc = double crochet
Tr = treble crochet
Inc= single crochet increase
Dec = single crochet decrease
FLO = Front loop only
BLO = Back loop only

If you are planning to make your Donkey in a heavier weight yarn, adjust your hook size accordingly. Use the smallest hook size possible for the weight of yarn that you are using. We need the stitches tight so the stuffing doesn’t show too much between stitches.
I recommend making a test motif to gauge tension.
