Detour Mittens
These handsome mittens feature cuff ribbing whose knit columns meander around each other over the back of the hand and eventually narrow to a pointed tip. Choose a crisp, woollen-spun Aran weight wool yarn for the sturdiest result.
This pattern is charted. The necessary skills for knitting the mittens are: casting on; picking up and knitting stitches; working in the round; knitting and purling; cabling with or without a cable needle; following a cable chart; increasing with M1L and M1R; decreasing with ssk and k2tog.
