The bold embroidery of the Diadem Effect Beret draws inspiration from a type of firework in which the center briefly freezes while the rest of the embers continue outward, creating a crown-like appearance. This hat is worked in the round from the bottom up.

Finished Size 18” circumference at brim and 8” tall.

Yarn Brooklyn Tweed Shelter (100% American Targhee-Columbia wool; 140 yd 128 m/1¾ oz 50 g): soot, 1 skein.

Needles Size 6 (4 mm): 16” circular (cir). Size 8 (5 mm): 16” cir and set of double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Marker (m); tapestry needle; chenille needle for embroidery; DMC Six-Strand Cotton Embroidery Floss (100% cotton; 8¾ yd 8 m/skein): #900 (red), 4 skeins; #741(orange) and #444 (yellow), 1 skein each.
