From ‘Sweaters From The Seaton Collection’: This design is another of my own favourites. I took a basic layout – diamond shapes on a lattice grid – that could be very flat and dull, then brought it to life with bright colours, textured knitting in the form of bobbles, grapes and strawberries, and exuberant motifs that burst out of their diamond confines. It all results in one of our liveliest, most summery designs, complemented by the full, slightly cropped, squarish style with its wide slash neck. The script is a quote from a poem by Catullus, a Roman poet writing in the first century BC: ‘Let us live and love’.

The lower body and cuff edge of this pulover are worked in a twisted rib pattern. There is no neck finishing. The sweater employs 1 Main colour (MC) and 12 Contrast colours (C1 – C21). Although a cream colourway is mentioned and pictured, together with a man’s version using different motifs and a traditional fisherman’s jersey shape, the yarn details are not provided for any of these stylings.

YARN REQUIREMENTS: Super Fine weight, four-ply cotton yarn, MC - 400 (400, 450) g / 3300 (3300, 3520) yds / 3020 (3020, 3220) m / 15 (15, 16) skeins, C1 & C2 - 50 g / 220 yds / 200 m each and 25 g / 110 yds / 100 m / ½ skein each of C3 – C21.
