This pattern originally appeared in McCall’s magazine in 1984 and was donated to p/hop in 2011 by the designers, Joanna Osborne and Sally Muir, to raise money for Médécins Sans Frontières/Doctors without Borders (MSF).

(Original yarn suggested in pattern Emu Superwash 100% wool.169m / 185yds per 50g)
• Main colour (A): 8 (8, 10) 50 balls
• Contrast colour (B): 3 (3, 4) 50g balls
• Highlight colour (C): 1 (1, 1) 50g ball
Note: In the original pattern A = red, B = white, C = black.

Knitting needles sizes US 1 (2.25mm) and US 2 (3mm)

Gauge: 30 sts x 39 rows = 4” / 10cm in Stockinette Stitch on 3mm needles
