Make the most of a special skein of hand-dyed yarn with this light and lacy sock pattern.

I picked up this skein of yarn at Yarndale last year – I was trying so hard not to buy anything, but this colourway was just singing my name! Every skein from this indie dyer is unique, so check out her shop and treat yourself to something lush.

The Dianthus sock is worked from the cuff down, starting with a 1x1 rib. The lace design is worked around the whole leg. The heel is a traditional heel flap and gusset and then the lace continues along the top of the foot until the toe is worked, finishing with a grafted toe. Due to the number of stitches required for the lace pattern, the minimum number of sts this pattern can be worked on is 72, which would normally produce a large sock. I therefore recommend working these socks on smaller needles than usual, to achieve a tighter tension.
