First introduced in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Luna Lovegood is a dreamy, independent young witch with a distinctive sense of fashion. According to costume designer Jany Temime, Luna “may dress a bit more ‘wizardy’ than the other girls, but it’s in Luna’s personality to do that. She is clearly a girl with her own tastes and her own hobbies, which include making her own jewelry.” To dress Luna, Temime created a color palette dominated by blues and purples, while many of the character’s accessories and props were made by actress Evanna Lynch herself—including the memorable pair of Dirigible Plum earrings that she wears in the fifth film.

A perfect set for any Luna fan, this mitten and sock set features stranded colorwork Dirigible Plums inspired by Luna’s handmade earrings. Worked from the bottom up in the round, the mittens are started with a twisted ribbed cuff, then worked to the top. An afterthought thumb is worked at the end, so there is no interruption to the colorwork. Similarly, the socks are worked from the top down beginning with a twisted ribbed cuff. While colorwork Dirigible Plums dance around the leg and top part of the foot, the Dutch heel, gusset, and toe are worked in a solid color. Toe stitches are grafted together with Kitchener stitch for a seamless join.

Please note that in the first US Edition there was a chart printing error where the sock charts were omitted. Please visit the publisher’s website for additional information.
