PATTERN NOTES
Created as a companion piece to my Divergenerate cardigan featured in the 2023 Early Fall issue of Knitty, this smaller project is a great introduction to the traveling cables featured in the sweater.

Hold 1 strand of each yarn together throughout unless otherwise noted. This hat is knit in the round from the bottom upward. The Ridge pattern has a bit shorter row gauge than the rest of the hat. After crown shaping is complete and the hat is finished off, the cabled portion crawls up and over to the other side just a bit, creating a wonder of geometry that can only happen in knitting. I have another hat pattern with a similar technique, the Gillett Hat.

Needles: US Size 6 (4 mm) 16” circular; US Size 8 (5 mm) 16” circular and set of dpns or sizes needed to obtain gauges

GAUGE
18 sts x 28 rows = 4” in Broken Ribbing with both yarns held together and smaller needle
22 sts x 27 rows = 4” in Cable patt with both yarns held together and larger needle
