Here are the particulars:

DK weight sock yarn is used in this pattern. I would recommend using a sock appropriate (IE. Nylon) yarn so you get maximum wear out of your socks. You could also definitely hold fingering weight sock yarn DOUBLE! This creates opportunity to use all that gorgeous yarn you have socked away because these are FAST!

These are constructed from the cuff down. We use a German Twisted CO and work the leg to a heel flap. The heel is turned and the gusset decreased before working the foot and the toe decreases. The sock is finished at the toe with kitchener stitch. I’ve included links to helpful resources of these techniques in the pattern.

I’ve also included full instructions for the contrast toes/heels/stripes as well as instructions to knit the socks in one colour.

The pattern is offered in five sizes: child/adult xs to adult XL. The detailed size outline is below. These are easy to modify for foot and leg lengths. Please note: yardages are approximate and modifications to sizes, personal gauge and yarn can effect yardage requirements.

This design is adventurous beginner friendly and has been tech edited. And for the seasoned knitter, these make for excellent TV knitting.

Materials

Sample yarn:
Squishy DK Sock Set, Gingersnap Yarns, DK weight, 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon. In colourway Camo Carlie. Sock set comes with 1 x 100g/245yds skein in MC: Camo Carlie Green, and 2 x 20g/49yds Minisnaps in CC1: Hot Pink CC2: Neon Orange

Approx. Yardage: 190 (210, 245, 290, 360) yds DK weight sock yarn. This is an estimate. Sock lengths and personal gauge impact the amount of yardage needed.

Suggested Needles:
3.25mm/US 3 80cm/32” length for magic loop OR size needed to obtain gauge. Darning needle.

Gauge: 26 sts and 36 rounds/10cm or 4”, in the round, in stockinette stitch.

Size & Measurements:

US Shoe Size: Youth 4- 6; Ladies 4-6.5, (Ladies 5-8; Mens 6-8.5, Ladies 7-9.5; Mens 7-9.5, Ladies 9.5-11; Mens 9-11, Ladies 10.5-12.5; Mens 12-14)

Sock circumference: 6.75” (7.4”, 8”, 8.6”, 9.25”)

To fit foot circumference: 7-7.5” ( 7.5-8.5”, 8.5-9.5”, 8.75-9.75”, 9.5-10.5”)
