Doddle Socks - Toe Up (DK)
This sock pattern was written for double pointed needles and has instructions for three sizes:
- Small (42 sts)
- Medium (48 sts)
- Large (54 sts) sizes
This pattern is the DK weight sister to my Skoosh Socks - Toe Up pattern.
This is a toe up sock pattern, worked in one piece, from the toe up to the cuff. Casting on requires using a two needle cast-on method. The toe of the socks is knitted first, before moving onto the foot, the gusset, the heel, then the leg and finally finishing on the cuff. A
stretchy cast off is used to cast off the stitches of the cuff.
Instructions for this sock are in written format only.
This Toe Up Sock pattern is based on my vanilla recipe for knitting socks using a DK weight yarn. These socks are so easy to knit that you could say that they’re a complete doddle! This
translates as ‘something easily accomplished’ for those not fluent in British slang/dialect.
The thought of knitting socks can be slightly daunting to some knitters, but this is a very straight forward sock pattern to follow. I feel that it’s important to understand the shape and construction of socks and sometimes patterns, charts and construction can leave new sock knitters feeling slightly confused.
I hope that this pattern will help knitters to understand how toe up socks with a traditional heel flap and gusset develop while using DK weight yarn and double pointed needles.
