Dog Lover Cowl
As a German Shepherd lover, I was inspired to design this cowl to share the joy with my dog loving tribe. The colours I used reflect the deep tones of my long haired Comanche Wolf, who sat by me in my studio watching me work on this design.
You need the ability to work on circular needles in the round, work 2x2 rib in 2 colours and do simple fair isle with 2 colours per round.
A band of hearts is followed by rows of bouncy balls to catch, a set of paw prints and a double array of gleaming bones to chew on, set on a black background. The edges are banded by 2.5cm/1”, 2x2 corrugated rib in 2 colours.
You can use any 5 ply or hand spun wool from your stash. For each colour, I used: 49g black, 10g gold for bottom rib and hearts, 10g yellow for bones and top rib, 5g for the balls and 5g for the paw prints.
There is a simple opportunity to increase the height and the circumference of this cowl to suit yourself. Written instructions and a graph are included. The fair isle floats to catch at the back are minimal.
