For most of us, doilies call to mind lukewarm tea and hope chests and musty-smelling furniture. But when you really look at them, they are lovely. They are refined, exquisite, and useful, as well.

Traditionally of course they are white and worked using thin thread and very tiny hooks. These more modern doilies are inspired by vintage patterns, but they are worked at a much larger gauge. The stitches ebb and flow like the gentle lapping of a lake, and bring forth that same serene coolness.
