Doll Dressed in a Walking Costume
by Weldons
“This pretty doll stands 16 inches high; the costume, consisting of dress, cape, hat, and muff, is knitted with sky-blue single Berlin wool, of which 4 ozs. will be required; procure also 1 oz. of white Peacock fingering, 1/2 oz. of white Andalusian wool, four steel knitting needles No. 14, and four No. 16, four pearl buttons to fasten the dress, and 1 yard of 2-inch wide blue ribbon for a sash.”
This pattern also includes appropriate undergarments: a combination garment (what Americans call a union suit) and a petticoat.
The needle sizes translate to modern American sizes 00 and 0.
