Dolores isn’t shy about sharing her opinions–and that’s why you’ll often find her circulating at the parties of the powerful, advocating for such causes as NOW (the National Organization for Worsted) and Shepherds Without Borders. While visiting the Nevada atelier of famed lace designer Rosemary “Romi” Hill, she tried on the classic “Fiori di Sole” shawl and insisted that it be adapted for her–something elegant to keep off the evening chill. “And while you’re at it,” said Dolores, “do me up a little black dress that can go from lunch to cocktails to dinner to the afterparty in the servant’s quarters.” Romi did, and the result is an ensemble pretty enough to be gala and dramatic enough to pack a punch. The trio of shawl, dress, and headband comes with a string of pearls and a compact of “Fluffeh” by Van Hoofen, Dolores’s signature face powder.
