Colourwork mittens MKAL
These mittens are based on imaginary graphic patterns made in colourwork, it’s almost like making doodles with yarn. You know when you’re in a meeting and start drawing and you just can’t stop? Here are your Doodling Mittens – lots of simple stitch patterns to choose from in each section – which also means there will be very many different versions of these mittens. Put on your designer hat and get ready to choose YOUR version.

Using up odd ends of yarn, this is a perfect stash buster pattern for your fingering weight yarns – or if you have been lucky enough to treat yourself to one of those luxurious yarn calendars this could be a perfect project for your mini-skein beauties. The end result will remind you of hønsestrik. Hønsestrik is a creative and very free technique from the 70’s, based on a book by Kirsten Hofstätter from Denmark. You have a basic pattern that gives you the stitch count but you improvise the stitch pattern as you go. There are lots of charts to choose from – or you make your own. In the case of these mittens there will be plenty of charts to choose from. The result of hønsestrik is most often very colourful and fun.

This pattern will be presented as a mystery knit-a-long (MKAL), which means you will receive three different clues but you will have no idea of what the finished project will look like when you start. Don’t stress about making the most perfect mitten – just have fun and enjoy the process. You can of course always make another pair. If you don’t like surprises you can have a look at the projects and wait until the full pattern has been released.

This MKAL has finished, you can choose to download Preparations and then Clue 1, Clue 2 and lastly Clue 3 - or the full pattern at once.
