Doppelganger Socks
Join the Verybusymonkey Knitters Group
I’ve been wanting to design a new sock for a while now, but life has been a bit crazy recently. Finally I finished designing my mystery sock (for the Solidsocks Ravelry Group - out in March/April 2010), and I was free to play with some of my other yarn. Here is the result of my most recent efforts.
It is a top-down sock, and it comes with TWO charted patterns - one you see here (chart 1) and its doppelganger (hence the name), the same stitch patterns but combined in a different way. You can choose one or the other, or use one of each - it’s entirely up to you. Also, the pattern is made using wrapped stitches and psso’s, so no cabling required at all for this pattern.
A note about the recommended yarn: I think this colorway may be one that only a sock-knitter would love. I really love this yarn, but I realize it is not readily available. For this pattern I think any semi-solid or slightly variegated (such as that seen here) would work - particularly Malabrigo Sock and Dream in Color Smooshy (two of my favorites!).
ERRATA: The blank boxes in the chart are knit stitches.
