Doughnut Blanket
Looking for a sweet treat? This doughnut blanket pattern is a great baby shower gift or scrap buster - or both! The frosting uses small amounts of yarn making it great for working in a fun colour scheme while also using what you have on hand.
The sample blanket used Red Heart Ombre for the doughnut colour, which made for a shifting, slightly more colourful base. For the frosting, I used a speckled confetti style yarn, but you can also use a plain colour and embroider sprinkles, if you’d rather!
Once the squares are done, a continuous join is used (if desired), and then the whole blanket is bordered with a cute row of cupcakes!
Yardage for the sample was 840 yards, but this blanket can easily be resized as desired by making more or less squares.
This pattern is rated advanced beginner. Simple stitches are used with a few tricky places (which are photographed at the end of the pattern with some step-by-step help just in case). Overall, my testers didn’t struggle that much, and we fixed a few of the iffy parts along the way.
