Doughty Dragon
This pattern is written for experienced knitters and uses many different techniques. Most of the pattern is knitted without seams and only the head, wings and legs are sewn onto the body. The head is knitted in 1 piece. The belly plate and back ridges are knitted onto the body. It is not a ‘quick knit’ but the finished product is well worth the time and effort that goes into it.
This pattern uses about 60g of Noro Kureyon sock yarn and If you use this yarn you will obtain a dragon about 20” long and 9” tall, but you can use any weight yarn so long as you choose needles to give a gauge that is tight enough so that the stuffing does not show through the knitting. If you make the dragon too big though it will be hard to support the head on the thin neck. You will need a couple of yards of yarn in different colors for the eyes and teeth.
You will need double point needles and 2 circular needles.
The body is stabilized with chenille sticks and filled with polyester fill.
