Douglas Mittens
NOTE: These mittens can be knit in 2 sizes simply by adjusting the stitch gauge. Total stitch count is the same for both sizes.
These stranded mittens are inspired by and named for the Douglas Fir, a gorgeous conifer abundant in the northeast that continues to grow full and lush, even in the fall and winter months.
Like the tree, Douglas Mittens are equally full and lush, and are quickly knit in stockinette stitch using worsted weight yarn, then lined with super soft Misti Alpaca Lace for a supremely cozy fit. They are designed with a traditional Norwegian style taper and a thumb gore for a more natural fit.
These mittens are quick to knit and very warm, making them a perfect winter gift that can be worked up in a variety of color combinations. Additionally, the picot edging can be easily substituted with a plain edge to give it a gender neutral style.
