Downtown Socks
DETAILS : These socks are UNISEX.
Available in multiple leg sizes from 7.5 to 11” (5 size options for circumference) and foot sizes from 9 - 11” (length is adjustable).
FUN FACT : The general pattern, due to its nature, is slightly different for each size! So although the pattern will be recognizable between sizes, it is not 100% identical for each size.
FUN FACT#2 : The heel is knit in the round! So you have no stitches to pick up along the heel flap for the arches.
For another sock pattern utilizing this technique, see the Jangles Socks. :) https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/jangles-socks

Materials
YARN : one 4-oz skein (350-400 yds) of fingering weight sock yarn (wool or wool blend recommended). Yarn used in sample is SweetGeorgia Yarns Tough Love Sock, 80% superwash merino, 20% nylon; 425 yds 388 m per 4 oz 115 g, shown in Rainbow Sprinkles.
Gauge 8 sts and 12 rows per square inch in stockinette. Top-down, knit in the round.
NEEDLES : General needle size suggested is 2.25mm circular or DPNs as you would regularly use for your preferred method of knitting socks in the round.
GOOD TO KNOW : You will need 6 stitch markers once you get to creating the heel. 2 stitch markers for the leg/foot.
For best results, a yarn that is not overly crazy busy (highly contrasted variegated, for example) will work best. Speckles are fine, bright colours are fine, plain tones are fine, quietly variegated is fine.
SKILLS :
Twisted German cast-on (or other stretchy cast-on), knitting in the round, knit, purl, increase, decrease, kitchenered toe. If this is your first sock, I believe there will be enough information in the pattern and also in the KALs to guide you through, however, the pattern would not be labeled as a beginner sock pattern.
