Dragonwell Infinity Cowl
Dragonwell green tea, grown in the West Lake area of Hangzhou of China, is crafted entirely by hand and each leaf pressed flat to produce its distinctive shape. Inspired by the meticulous hand preparation of the renowned tea, this infinity cowl pattern pairs two skeins of handspun yarn that balance contrasting textures with coordinating colors.
The 2-ply yarn is spun with a gentle thick and thin texture to retain the loft of
Falkland Island Merino. The fiber is sourced from a single farm on West Falkland, where the sheep graze year round in an environment free of herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals to produce a naturally white fleece that is downy soft.
The super bulky corespun yarn incorporates a hand-carded blend of wool and exotic fiber such as yak down, angora, cashmere, angelina, and silk. The fiber is spun around a core of rayon boucle thread to best display the individual fibers.
This pattern is suitable for the Adventurous Beginner. The Dragonwell Kit contains approximately 90 yds of bulky 2-ply yarn, and approximately 50 yds of super-bulky corespun yarn. You will need a crochet hook and waste yarn for the provisional cast-on, US 11 and US 13 needles, and a tapestry needle to weave in ends. Gauge, while not crucial, is 14.5 sts x 14 rows = 4” x 4” for the 2-ply bulky yarn, before blocking in 1x1 rib stitch.
