I loved knitting this shawl. It’s bigger than most of my shawls and it drapes beautifully because the beads add weight. It will nicely fit a taller and/or larger person. The color is happy and vibrant. It’s called “Bright Idea” and is Alegria (fingering) from Manos Del Uruguay. It is soft and luscious in your hands.

The shawl uses 2187 size 6/0 glass beads, Miyuki #481, Opal Turquoise Green AB. The color of the beads picks up flecks of the same lovely color in the yarn. I use a Fleegle Beader tool, but a tiny crochet hook will also work to attach the beads. As always, the beads are optional (though they are a stunning cog in this design!). If you prefer not to add beads, simply knit the stitch instead.

There is an easy-to-read chart included. I have also written the directions for the charted rows for those knitters who are not fans of working from a chart. The lace is geometric and easy to memorize as the same 16 stitches are repeated across the row. During blocking, you will pull down the points that naturally form from the lace pattern. This makes a dramatic edge on the bottom of the shawl.

This shawl will make a spectacular gift for most anyone at any occasion. Show off your knitting skill and wow the recipient!
