I have always wanted to take a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer train. Sadly, the closest I have gotten to it has been while driving on the road beside the tracks. The empty tracks have become the stitch pattern for these socks. They were written for the 2016 Canadian Crazy Train challenge, and therefor are fast to knit but have enough going on so that they don’t get boring. They are worked from the toe up, with a gusset and turned heel, and have a train track motif that criss crosses the foot and can either continue to go back and forth across the front of the leg, or can spiral around in either direction, at the discretion of the knitter. The second sock can be worked to match the first or as a mirror image.
