Dreams of Alice Shawlette
This graceful and delicate shawlette was inspired by one of my favorite fairytale books, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll. Although Alice doesn’t wear a shawlette in the book, I always pictured her wearing one while sitting at the riverbank with her sister.
This pattern is for a more experienced lace knitter, but could also be knit by an advanced beginner, if taken step by step. The lace patterns themselves aren’t difficult. A perfect gift for a loved one or a stunning accessory for a wedding or special occasion. “Dreams of Alice” is one of my favorite patterns from Wonderlace.
NOTE: For the shawlette size, you will need 290 yards of the main color (here I used white) for the center of the shawlette, 190 yards for the border color (I used turquoise) and 70 yards for the trim (I used black).
Notions Needed:
small stitch markers, scissors, tapestry needle, row counter, measuring tape, scrap lace weight yarn in a contrasting color (optional…for lifelines)
