This shrug, like the Drift Mittens, uses a folded stitch detail to give me the fabric design I wanted: deep undulations, suggestive of a landscape that is very dear to me, the Mendip Hills in Somerset. I chose a spare, classic dove-grey. The bleached winter grass often turns a silvery grey colour up on these hills. Below this folded contour is another Mendip world. The caves that lie below are deep and full of a beauty all their own.
