Drifting Seas is an airy lace shawl that combines a handful of cables with lots of lovely lace. A gently repeating lace motif extends across the fabric and culminates in a simple cabled garland towards the border. I love introducing cables in lace motifs, using a lace weight yarn – the cables give a three dimensional quality to the fabric as they rise above the backdrop of lace. With this shawl you get the benefit of cables, but only have to work them for 8 rows in total. Finally, a delicate flower motif set into the scalloped edge makes this an eye catching lace shawl, and a great way to try your hand at delicate cabled lace.

Yarn
Union Fibre Swoon 2 ply lace is not yet listed in the Ravelry database. It is a laceweight yarn measuring 700 metres per 100 grams. (Link to yarn)
I have listed some other laceweight yarns that would be suitable, but you can use pretty much any laceweight yarn, if that is your preference, but be sure to have about 770 metres on hand, even though I managed to complete mine with 700 metres. Differences in gauge and tension can mean you use many more metres than me.
