Drifting Waves
This fun asymmetrical triangular shawl highlights the main color using a feather and fan pattern, and creates pops of wavy color using contrasting stripes. Highly customizable, Drifting Waves, is the perfect project to play with and have fun: from using mini skeins, solid, tonal, slightly variegated, or speckled yarn for your main color; changing the shawl’s size by varying the number of repeats, and using a light main color and dark contrast, to mixing bases and yarn weights (note this will affect your gauge and yarn usage). Think of it as coloring and let your creativity shine!
Inspired by my Vogue Knitting Live 2017 experience and classes that encouraged us to explore mixing bases and playing with stripes, Drifting Waves combines simple lace and stripes for an interesting yet easy and quick knit that will have you saying “just one more row!”
The sample shawl used 525 yard of Koigu KPPPM (3 skeins) and 32 yards of Hedgehog Skinny Singles (.08 skeins).
This pattern has been tech edited by Bronwyn Hahn and test knit by AntigonaNYC and TheZippyZebra.
