Perfect for stash diving and using up some single skeins of sock yarn, this top-down, drop-shouldered 3/4-sleeve pullover only looks like it’s stranded knitting. In reality, you only ever use 1 color on any row, and work a “dip” stitch here and there to make it look like stranded colorwork.

Short rows are worked to shape both the neckline and the shoulders. The neckline shaping lowers the ribbing a bit so that you don’t feel choked by the boatneck, while the short rows at the shoulders angle them downward to give you less underarm bulk. Much more comfortable to wear this way!

Wanna go sleeveless? Do the sleeve pick up and do several rounds of 1x1 ribbing instead (check out lanidaniel’s test knit!).

Want full-length sleeves? Don’t start the sleeve decreases until you’ve reached the elbow, then begin your decreases all the way down to where you’d like your cuff to start. This will take more yarn than in the estimates, however.

Finished Bust Measurement sizes 32(34 ¾ , 37 ½ , 40 ¼ , 44 ½ , 47 ¼ , 50, 53, 55 ½ , 58 ½ , 62 ½ , 65 ¼ )” or 81.3(88.3, 95.4, 102.5, 113.1, 120.2, 127.2, 134.3, 141.4, 148.4, 159, 166.1) cm require the following yarn:
2(2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4) skeins of the Main Color (MC) in The Plucky Knitter (440yds/115 g, shown in Wintery Mix) AND
1(1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2) skeins EACH of the Contrasting Color 1 (CC1) (Breakfast on Fifth), and CC2 (Zinc oxide)
645(700, 750, 820, 885, 955, 1050, 1175, 1325, 1400, 1500, 1600) yds of the MC, and
210(230, 250, 275, 300, 325, 355, 385, 410, 445, 470, 500) yds EACH of CC1 (Breakfast on Fifth), and CC2 (Zinc oxide)

A 24” size 6 (4 mm) circular needle or size needle required to achieve gauge,
Set of size 6 (4 mm) double pointed needles (dpns) or size needle required to achieve gauge,
A tapestry needle for grafting and weaving loose ends, and 2 stitch markers in each of a different color.

Construction Note: The sweater is worked from the top-down by casting on for the front, working down to the underarm. The front sts are then put on hold while you pick up stitches for the back and work down to the underarm. The front and back are then joined, and the remainder of the bodice is worked in the round to the hem. Stitches for each sleeve are picked up from around the armscye and worked circularly down to the cuff.

Choosing a Size: The pullover is designed to be worn with 0-3” of positive ease at the bust (meaning, the sweater should be 1-3” bigger than your actual bust measurement). Note that the model in the photo with the green-blue-lightgray sweater measures to a 35” bust and is wearing size 37 ½. The same model is wearing size 34 ¾ in the long sleeved purple-lightgray-darkgray sweater.

Note that the long sleeved sample shown is worked in Wollmeise Pure (MC= Pb23, CCs are Meilenstein and Maus Jung). I used an extra 30 g of the yarn to work the longer sleeves.
