Duck Foot Booties
SIZE, GAUGE & YARN This may be made on any machine that can get 4 stitches/6 rows per inch using a worsted weight yarn. Red Heart Super Saver was used for the sample. Normally, I would pick a softer yarn for baby things but the very sturdiness of this one helps the booties to keep their duck foot shape nicely defined. My KX350 got the gauge at stitch size 6.5. Bulkies can certainly match the gauge at a smaller stitch size. Bonds, I suggest Keyplate 3 as a starting point. One skein makes several pairs.
Sizes are intended for infants who do not yet walk. The shape is adorable but would be very dangerous to new toddlers so use caution. Foot length of the real foot is for 3.5, 3.75,4,4.25” long and circumference of 3.75, 4, 4.25. 4.5” long. The actual bootie is larger due to the ducky shape. These sizes fit newborn, 3, 6, 9 month sizes approximately.
