Fluffy alpaca, with a simple crochet stitch, creates a modern and relaxed fit, sleeveless top.
This is a meditative crochet project; take it slowly, there’s no rush. Trust the floofy process!

Ducky Fuzz uses Mamie & Florrie, 100% Suri Alpaca (100g/400m/437yds). I achieved similar results with a gauge swatch using Drops brush Alpaca Silk. I also tried Stylegraft Grace, which got gauge but created a thicker, less drapey, fabric.

Sizes 1-4require 2 hanks of Mamie & Florrie Suri Alpaca Fluff.
Sizes 5-9 require 3 hanks. Yarn quantities may differ when using other brands.

You’ll need a 3.75mm hook or hook size that meets gauge.
Using stitch markers (to show the ends of rows) is advisable when working with fluffy yarn.

Difficulty level:
I would class this pattern as intermediate for the fluff element and JAYG ribbing. There is some basic underarm shaping and neck shaping, which involves regular decreases.
If using fluffy yarn, you will find it easier to crochet if you work slower than normal. Find the rhythm of the stitches and everything slots into place.

Construction

The main stitch used is an extended double crochet (US esc).
The top is made bottom up in two separate pieces (front and back).
Both front & back pieces have basic shaping at the underarm and neck.
Front & back pieces are sewn together and the ribbing is worked using a Join As You Go method.
