Duille Poncho
The primary feature of this poncho is texture. It’s built into every aspect of the design from cast on to bind off. The poncho is knit in the round from the bottom up.
What’s New
-
Decorative cast on and bind off edges add knotty interest and added flexibility.
-
The Showy Decrease is an easy modification to standard decreases that rises up on the knit fabric. It has the added benefit of matching left and right leaning decreases so your k2tog and ssk are identical. The Showy Decrease is used here to add depth to the leaf pattern, create a dramatic rib and shape the poncho with symmetrical decreases.
-
The Porthole Eyelet is a large well supported eyelet that helps create the modern clean lines of this updated stitch pattern.
Size
The pattern comes in 4 sizes with finished measurements as follows:
Circumference at bottom: 48 (52, 57 1⁄4, 60)“ / 122 (132, 145.5, 152.5) cm
Circumference at neck: 24.5 ( 26, 26.5, 27)” / 63 ( 66, 67, 68) cm
Length: 14 3⁄4 (16 1⁄4, 18 1⁄4, 19 1⁄2)” / 37.5 (41.5, 46.5, 49.5) cm
Yarn:
Recommend a lighter color solid yarn or one without too much variegation to help show the pattern.
Label gauge of 5 sts per 1”
Knit on US 7.
Yardage:
Total 650 (710, 860, 950) yds
Difficulty
Intermediate and above. There are multiple new techniques in this design that taken individually are not difficult. The key to success is not necessarily your technical ability, but the ability to read your knitting and being able to spot the pattern as you knit. Both front and back patterns are very linear which make them easier to follow.
Charts
You need to be able to read charts to knit this pattern. There are written instructions for the repeats and the setup round to get you started, but the stitch patterns and shaping rely on charts.
