DunBroch is a magical kingdom, that lies in the Scottish Highlands. This enchanting place is the home of Princess Merida, a girl who most definitely knows her own mind.

I designed these socks for a young lady who is much like Merida. She is bravely making her way in the big, scary world and is living not too far from where Merida lived.

I wanted this design to reflect the feel of Scotland, and also the strength and determination needed to succeed in life.

Sock Details

The socks feature a twisted panel down the outside of each leg, which is surrounded by a beautifully cosy texture pattern. Although the design appears intricate, it is straightforward to knit and doesn’t require a cable needle.

Sizes

The pattern comes in 3 sizes - Small (56 sts), Medium (64 sts) and Large (72 sts). The instructions are both written and charted, and are knitted using the magic loop method. You can of course use your preferred method.

Yarn

The sample is knitted using yarn that I dyed myself, in the colourway ‘Autumn Leaves’. I would recommend a solid, tonal or very lightly speckled yarn to show the design off to it’s best.

So, are you ready to knit yourself some socks that are fit for a princess ? I can’t wait to see yours !!
