The knitters of the Coast Salish communities in and around Duncan, British Columbia are known for their distinctive Cowichan cardigans knit in very bulky, lightly spun yarn or roving. This sweater borrows from that tradition - as well as incorporates motifs influenced by the blankets and baskets of other Native American peoples.

The Duncan Jacket is worked from the bottom up, in a super bulky wool roving - very similar to a traditional Cowichan. The sweater uses seamless construction, the sleeves are knit in the round, and the body and yoke are worked flat. It has a traditional Cowichan garter stitch collar, as well as a garter stitch welt at the hem.

Yarn requirements for Briggs and Little Country Roving are:

• 3(4, 4, 5, 5) Balls MC (red)
• 2(2, 2, 3, 3) Balls CC1 (grey)
• 1(1, 1, 1, 2) Balls CC2 (white)
• 1(1, 1, 1, 1) Ball CC3 (black)
