If you ask Google what “Duvet Day” means, it will tell you “an unscheduled extra day’s leave from work, taken to alleviate stress or pressure and sanctioned by one’s employer.” To a lot of people a Duvet Day is a day of rest, a day to relax and recoup, sometimes in bed or on the couch in front of the TV or with a good book. To a lot of people it is something they need every now and again to “recharge” from their busy lives. To chronically ill and/or disabled people, Duvet Days are more of a regular occurence and for some an everyday thing. This pattern has been designed to keep your toes toasty no matter your reason for your Duvet Day. I designed the pattern to be relaxing in itself so even if you can’t afford the time to take a full days rest you can at least take a few minutes here and there to relax and regroup while you knit a few rows.

I suffer from several life changing chronic conditions, all of which I wasn’t aware of before I was diagnosed with them. This pattern is part of my #WarriorsUnite2019 campaign on Instagram to raise awareness for all kinds of chronic illnesses and disabilities. £1 from every copy sold will go to Crohns Colitis UK. They have been very supportive to me and so many others and they are always working hard to raise money to fund medical research. More information on IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) included in the back of the pattern.

This pattern has been produced to show off the beauty of hand dyed yarns like those created by Snuggly Stars Yarns. A big thank to Gemma for creating the “Warrior” colourway inspired by the purple ribbon! Don’t forget to share your version with me @loulabella.knits and Gemma @snugglystarsyarns on Instagram!

  • This is a cuff-down sock pattern designed to be cosy and comfortable.
  • The amount of yarn needed depends on the size and length you are making. (see notes below)
  • This pattern also works wonderfully with sport weight yarn! Use the same needles and stitch count as with DK
  • For a looser fit or for wider feet try using a bigger needle such as 4mm.

Good to Know!
DK yarn doesn’t tend to go as far as standard sock yarn/4ply so I thought you might find it useful to know how much yarn the largest test knit sample pairs took

Medium Size: Made to fit a UK size 5: 10 repeats of pattern set on leg and 14 sets on the foot = 86g

Large Size: Made to fit a UK size 5.5: 10 repeats of pattern set on leg and 15 sets on the foot = 87g

X-Large: Made to fit a UK size 10.5: 12 repeats of pattern set on leg and 17 sets on the foot = 96g
