Dynamite Mitts
This design was very much inspired by my daughter’s love of the K-Pop band, BTS.
One day she showed me a sweater that her favourite band member, Taehyung was wearing. It was a creamy colour, knit with what looked like a modified Old Shale motif.
Being the good BTS mum that I am, I thought I would knit her something that was influenced by this sweater. Bryony (my daughter) loves fingerless mitts and wears a pair every day, so this seemed a good place to start.
After much thought and swatching, I came up with a design that pays homage to the lovely Taehyung’s sweater.
DESIGN DETAILS
The mitts come in one size that will fit a hand of approximately 7 to 8 inches in circumference.
You can easily adjust this however, by using a different needle size and/or a thicker yarn.
The pattern includes both written and charted instructions, and contains a video tutorial for how I work the thumb gusset increases.
Also included are details of how you can use scraps of yarn to produce a striped pair of mitts. I knit a second pair using colours that reflected the band members clothes in the music video of ‘Dynamite’.
YARN
I used a skein of Eden Cottage Yarns, Rosedale 4ply base in the colourway ‘Whispering Grass’. I used 40g of the 100g skein so you can easily get 2 pairs of mitts from 1 skein of yarn.
