In order to make this design-your-own cowl, you’ll need a single bed, Japanese-style knitting machine with punch card or electronic patterning capabilities (you could also make it solid or striped if you don’t have patterning available). I demonstrate all relevant techniques in video tutorials embedded throughout the pattern, which makes it a good choice for beginners.

I have also included hand knitting instructions, which you can accomplish with a 16” circular needle in size US 2 and a couple of double pointed needles (dpns) of the same size. :)
