Pluck some yarn from your stash, pour some tea, and find a quiet place to knit these socks. Mild or wild yarns, enjoy what comes to you.
Sizes: Adult S, M, L; circumference at foot, in inches: 8, 8.5, 9. Length adjustable.
Yarn choices: The lace pattern is most visible when worked in solid or tonal yarns, but the waves, slip-stitch vines and gathered flowers frolic in space-dyed yarns.
What’s fun about this pattern
Worked cuff-down, the textured lace pattern creates a wave, a flower, leaves, and eyelets. A traditional heel flap supports the lace, and traveling stitches with tiny flowers along the sides show off mildly painted yarns.
What’s challenging about this pattern
You may learn a few new stitches. Pay attention to the charts and all should go well. The larger flower stitch gathers nine loose stitches into one; for that a crochet hook may be desired but is not essential.
What you should know before you begin
You should be familiar with basic sock construction and reading charts. It will be helpful, but is not essential, to have some experience with traveling stitches and simple lace. Written instructions guide you through the construction, but the stitch patterns are chart-based. A stitch key gives specific instructions for working each stitch in the chart.
